While Google Assistant is not anything new, the truth is that they have launched a new directory page for the Google Assistant during the CES 2018. Although most people visit or are interested in knowing what was released during this epic event (after all, this is the biggest event of the year in terms of technology and gadgets) mostly in terms of technology, Google took the time to present their users with something they weren’t really expecting.
The reality is that since more and more people tend to work more hours and they just don’t have time for anything anymore, Google decided to give them a hand, just like Alexa from Amazon. From asking simple questions like “how’s the weather today” to more complicated questions like “how’s my commute to work”, or simply ask Google Assistant to “snooze my alarm”, you can do a lot of things that can save you a lot of time.
However, and up until now, most Google Assistant users have only been using this amazing voice assistant to play some music or set a couple of timers. The truth is that most people haven’t yet discovered the power of Google Assistant.
So, in order to help their users, Google decided to create a directory page for the Google Assistant. The truth is that it has been almost a year ever since Google enabled third-party actions meaning that you can use your Google Assistant not only with Google devices but with others as well. However, the Silicon Valley company failed to explain their users this and this is why most people keep using Google Assistant just for extremely simple tasks.
If you check the new directory page for Google Assistant, you will be extremely surprised with the number of third-party actions that you can perform simply by using your Google device. From Nest to Wemo, from Philips Hue to LG, just check out everything you can do. In addition, they have also divided this directory into categories to make it easy for you to find exactly what you are looking for.
It seems that this year will be the second round of the war between voice assistants. Despite Google has surprised everyone with this announcement, Amazon also took the time to show their first 4K projector with Alexa. While Apple seems to have forgotten about Siri, both Google and Amazon already realized that besides the fact that their voice assistants need to be everywhere, they need to be in everything. Although these are the three main companies in what relates to voice assistants, Samsung also announced that it will start bringing their own voice assistant, Bixby, to their fridges and smart TVs lines.
