Engaging with your customers is one of those things that you keep listening everyone talks about. But how can you actually do it using social media? After all, every business is different and customers are different as well. So, how can you have a simple platform to engage with them?
Here are some of the things you can do to engage with your customers through social media:
#1: Listen to your audience:
When you want to know what your friend thinks about a subject, you ask him and listen to his answer. When you have a business and you want to know what your audience wants and what they are looking for, you can read your comments on your Facebook page, for example. If you know how they feel and what they want, you can easily satisfy their needs.
#2: Don’t be afraid to ask questions:
If there is something that you should ever be afraid off is to ask questions to your audience. After all, they are your (potential) customers. However, when you decide to ask a question, make sure it really makes sense for your business. Rather than asking “What is your favourite juice flavour?”, you should rather ask “What should the nest flavour be?”.
#3: Don’t forget to answer questions as well:
One of the things that we keep seeing as more and more common nowadays is that people, instead of contacting the customer support either by phone, email, or chat, they simply go to the different social media networks and ask their questions there. So, make sure that you constantly keep an eye on yours and answer all the questions as soon as possible. Even though you may not have all the answers, you’re addressing people. And they will acre for that.
#4: Dealing with criticism:
Another frequent thing that is turning more common is to have people criticising a company in the social media for their products, services, customer support representatives, you name it. Despite you may not like it, this can actually be a positive thing. If you take into consideration why the person is criticising your business or complaining about it, you have the opportunity not only to fix the situation as well as to tell everyone you did it in record time.
#5: Make sure that you’re easy to find and follow:
When you have a presence on any social media platform like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, or any other, make sure to have it pretty visible on your website as well as on your emails. In case people want to get in touch with you or follow you, they will easily find you.
#6: Be a real person:
When someone talks to you, either a customer or a prospect, make sure that you answer all their questions as a real person. After all, you’re a human being and people tend to forget that. So, make sure that you set your own tone so people can easily identify you.
Even though engaging with customers using social media can be intimidating for many business owners, the truth is that you just need to act as a real person, just like yourself. When you’re looking to get loyal customers who promote your business because they not only like your products but because they like you too, you need to nurture them and treat everyone politely and with respect. Remember that even the worst thing said about you can be turned into your advantage.
